making pendants

i made these pendants out of fimo, and then added vintage buttons and antique fake pearls that i've found in my treasure hunts in junk shoppes across the country. as much as i'd love to keep them all, i think i'll sell them.

The weasel scene

This is the part in the book where the weasel thinks the egg will be a giant dragon, and wants to make money off of it. As you'll notice, the weasel is made of money :)

paint, buckets, and falling down on stage...

it was our school's first talent show, and jake decided it would be great to do a live painting with one of our students and me. we got 2 6-foot masonite boards, tons of paint, and spent the next week creating what you see above. we covered it in watercolor so that it looked white. for the show, we played sigur ros, and "choreographed" a way to uncover the painting in a way that made it look like we painted this in the time it took for the 6 mintue song to play. paint and water were flying everwhere while lights flickered and the music played. i slipped and fell in the paint, and the audience loved every minute of it. some people were convinced that we had actually painted this on stage.

paper doll

This was fun. I did this in ink and colored pencil, and gave it to my lovely sister, Jamie.

Oh wow...

I've just discovered the fun of putting my watercolors through a few digital touches....I must say, I'm quite pleased with the results.

happy valentines day

This was fun. Watercolor background, and a cut out pen and ink with colored pencil. There was no pressure about messing up the background. I didn't make puddles this time. I was neat and tidy, with a little paper towel and boxes and tins. I had a particularly lovely time.

The Peacock Scene

I finally got around to working on my book again. This is the part where the peacock gets terribly jealous. Silly peacocks take forever to draw.

Balloon

My second watercolor. I went a little crazy on the background. There was literally a puddle on my dining room table. Too fun :)

walking fido

This is my first real watercolor. I had SO much fun, while being totally nervous the whole time.
I got my inspiration from Kat Macleod and Leontine May Greenberg. I would like to have a pet strawberry.

Thanksgiving Break

I did this today with an old postcard, soft pastels, colored pencil, pen and ink, glue, and half of the very last page in my sketch book. It was fun :)

giraffes in the night

Soft pastel, acrylic paint, colored pencil, pen and ink, and a Bible. I love giraffes, I think they are ridiculous and I would like to get to know one.

William the First

I like William. Jake and I were talking about how much we wanted an old Bible to use in our art, but thought it might be hard to cut into a beautiful antique Bible. On the ride home from school last week, we saw old, lovely bible pages strewn all over the side of the road. We were quite tickled, and pulled over to pick up all the pages. William consists of the first chapter of 1 Peter.

tre magnifique

This is my first attempt at collage-ish art. I used colored pencil, pen and ink, instant coffee, acrylic paint, soft pastel, a cut up Bible, an oven, a bit of a magazine and a first draft of one of my songs. I think I'll go a bit smaller next time. Postcard-size, perhaps.

Imagination incarnate!

This is the scene where the turkey shares his worries that the egg will be a pterodactyl. Ahh, the terror!
