i made these pendants out of fimo, and then added vintage buttons and antique fake pearls that i've found in my treasure hunts in junk shoppes across the country. as much as i'd love to keep them all, i think i'll sell them.
This is an illustration of Marjolaigne, from my song "So Long, Marjolaigne." Someday, I'd love to make an animation in this style of that song, but for now, this will have to do.
This is the part in the book where the weasel thinks the egg will be a giant dragon, and wants to make money off of it. As you'll notice, the weasel is made of money :)
it was our school's first talent show, and jake decided it would be great to do a live painting with one of our students and me. we got 2 6-foot masonite boards, tons of paint, and spent the next week creating what you see above. we covered it in watercolor so that it looked white. for the show, we played sigur ros, and "choreographed" a way to uncover the painting in a way that made it look like we painted this in the time it took for the 6 mintue song to play. paint and water were flying everwhere while lights flickered and the music played. i slipped and fell in the paint, and the audience loved every minute of it. some people were convinced that we had actually painted this on stage.
breakfast very well may be my favorite time of day. the kairalla's gave us their silver tea service, which has added quite a bit of glee to breakfast...and lunch and dinner for that matter.
here it is, at last. three high school girls and i worked on this yearbook for 4 and a half months. these are the pages that i designed (co-designed on some of them). i am super-proud of the yearbook team. i wish i could display all of their work, it's amazing...but it would take up tons of rooms. they worked hard, and put their hearts into this book. thanks christina, nicole and vivienne!
This was fun. Watercolor background, and a cut out pen and ink with colored pencil. There was no pressure about messing up the background. I didn't make puddles this time. I was neat and tidy, with a little paper towel and boxes and tins. I had a particularly lovely time.
This is my first real watercolor. I had SO much fun, while being totally nervous the whole time. I got my inspiration from Kat Macleod and Leontine May Greenberg. I would like to have a pet strawberry.
My name is Annie. I love photography, music and art. Since my teens, I've been working to be able to live as a freelance artist in all of these mediums. Now I travel the world with my best friend and confidant, Jake, photographing weddings, doing concerts, filming documentaries and staying up too late. I like to talk in accents when I'm in the car, and I like English tea in the mornings. When I am home, I spend my time making things, writing songs, and spoiling my pet dove. I'm particularly afraid of spiders, pipe organs and geometery. You won't find any of those things here, except for the occasional pipe organ, which you'll have to excuse. I created this blog to document my adventures, creations and obsessions, in hopes that you'll find a little inspiration in them. Happy reading!
